Library lessons help develop student research skills and cater for a diversity of student needs.
Our library provides access to resources that support and enhance teaching programs of the school. It offers students a stimulating learning environment.
The library program fosters an enjoyment of reading as well as a literary appreciation.
What's available?
The following resources are available to you at AWPS:
Printed Resources -
A wide range of fiction, suitable for students K-6,
An extensive catalogue of nonfiction titles that relate to the curricular needs of students,
A broad selection of Teacher Reference
Electronic resources –
DVDs – educational and entertainment,
Computer software,
Digital Video Commander full of videos and interactive PDFs,
Interactive SMART Boards for visual education,
A set of 30 iPad3s,
Laptop computers, projectors, still cameras and video cameras.
The number of books students may borrow:
Kindergarten – Term 1&2- 1 book
Term 3&4 -1 fiction and 1 nonfiction
Years 1 and 2 - 1 fiction and 1 nonfiction
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 - 2 fiction and 2 nonfiction
All loans are for one week.
To borrow students need a cloth bag, this may be purchased from the Office.
There is no fine system for overdue books. However students are responsible for the books they borrow. If a book is lost or damaged beyond repair, a note will be sent home for payment.
Before School and Lunchtime
The library is open before school on Thursdays from 8:35am till
8:55am and also lunchtimes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Students can read, play board games or use the computer facilities for
Bug Club, research or maths games etc.
