Stage 1 NAP 2013

Welcome to Miss Tran's Stage 1 NAP. The class contains the newest arrivals from years 1 and 2.

TERM 1:

In term 1, we did a unit on 'Possum Magic' which helped us learn about Australian culture, food and animals. We loved learning about the different Australian animals and how to use adjectives to describe them.

Ayesha labels the different features of a koala and wombat.

k

Ayham labels the different features of an emu.

e

A written description of an echidna.

d

A written description of a wombat.d

TERM 2 & 3:

In term 2, we learnt about the topic of tolerance by:

  • looking at different pictures and talking about how tolerance is shown,
  • responding to a range of texts like 'Feathers and Fools' and 'Stanley Paste', and
  • doing drama to help us understand what tolerance feels, sounds and looks like.

As a class, we then brainstormed some ideas for our creative writing. We picked an idea that we all liked and together, we wrote a story about showing tolerance. We then put this onto a storyboard and added some pictures for each scene.

Term 3 was when our project started to come to life. After we knew the order of our story, we used modelling clay to create each scene. Miss Tran helped us use the iStopMotion app on the iPad3 to make our claymation. We learnt how to work with each other so that each student had a job to do. It took a very long time to create our claymation because each frame was one movement. So to make an animal move we had to take nearly 10 photos which was only around 2 seconds!
